"Suicide is a particularly awful way to die: the mental suffering leading up to it is usually prolonged, intense, and unpalliated," writes Kay Redfield Jamison. As a person who has dealt with suicide ideation all my life, and understand why I have this issue. Alot of it is from early childhood trauma and emotional flashbacks that can hit you when something triggers it. In this book I felt like there was alot of misinformation about various aspects on the subject. I would not recommend this book as of real value to anyone wishing to understand suicide. There is a book I had found when I was younger that gave some really great in depth insight but it still didn't delve into certain areas but it was a great book. It's called the noonday demon.

Disappointing book. It only talks about suicide as if it were a mental illness. Well, some people get to that conclusion through a logical reasoning. It's a choice. The difficult part is, why these people think like that? What can we, as a society, do, so more sensitive people can cope with such a difficult burden?
I just think it's sad someone has spent so long researching and still hasn't understood that many people don't have any mental issues. They just can't stand life. Because we all agree, that life is hard.

This is now one of my favorite books. It's easy to read and it's very straight forward with great examples! I've only read about 4 chapters and learned so much! Loved the chapters on Lithic and Ceramic analysis.

Good place to start

The book does a good job at explaining the various ways you can invest your money (stocks, bonds, options, etc.), but too many times refers you to your financial planner for more information. If you're just starting an investment portfolio, this would be a good place to start. If you're looking for guidance on how to tweak the portfolio you already have to achieve a certain level of risk or returns, you should look elsewhere.
